Ella Purnell as Rhaenys Targaryen

Aegon’s Conquest is all about the Targaryens and one of the most important characters is Rhaenys Targaryen. Fan casts won’t make everyone happy, but it’s important to find the perfect actor to bring Rhaenys to life on screen — Ella Purnell would be the ideal choice. Like Oliva Cooke, (House of the Dragon) she has a resume and a rising star quality to her.

Yellowjackets fans know Purnell from the hit series. However, fans may recognize her voice as Jinx, the troubled psychotic flamboyant character in the critically acclaimed Netflix series, Arcane. Her performances have proven that she can bring both emotional depth and physical prowess to her characters.

Make no mistake about it, Purnell’s acting isn’t the only reason. With her striking features such as her piercing blue eyes and porcelain skin, she could easily embody the role of the beloved Targaryen. Her delicate yet strong facial structure and ethereal presence would lend themselves perfectly to portraying the grace and power of a Targaryen princess.

Rhaenys Targaryen played a crucial role in the War of Conquest, the historical event that led to the Targaryens’ rule over the Seven Kingdoms. As the wife of Aegon Targaryen, the first Targaryen king, Rhaenys was not only a powerful figure in her own right but also a key ally to her husband in his campaign for the Iron Throne. Her influence extended far beyond the battlefield, as she was loved by the people for her kindness and compassion. Rhaenys was known to be a skilled dragonrider and played a pivotal role in several key battles of the war. Fans of the series also know how her story ends, so Purnell can continue her work in other shows.

Purnell’s fantastic resume, rising star quality, and ability to embody the qualities of Rhaenys Targaryen make her the perfect choice for the role. Other great choices for this role would be Emilia Jones, Ruby Stokes, and Hannah Dodd to name a few.
