Ryu – Ryan Potter

Ryu, the legendary fighter from Street Fighter, has a deep backstory that could be explored in a film adaptation. As a young boy, Ryu was taken in by Gouken, a martial arts master who taught him the art of Ansatsuken. Ryu dedicated his life to mastering this art, traveling the world to challenge other fighters and hone his skills. His ultimate goal is to become the greatest fighter in the world.

In a Street Fighter movie, Ryu could be a central figure, with his journey to become the best fighter as part of the plotline. He could be portrayed as a quiet and introspective character, driven by his desire to be the best. His struggle to control the power within him and maintain his moral compass in the face of constant temptation could make for a compelling character arc.

And who better to play the role of Ryu than Ryan Potter? The actor has already shown his ability to play a hero full of emotion and grit as Beast Boy in Titans. Not to mention that his martial arts skills are top-notch. Potter has been practicing martial arts since he was a child and has even trained in Kung Fu and Karate. His dedication to the craft and his impressive athleticism would make him the perfect choice to bring Ryu to life on the big screen.

Lewis Tan and Ludi Lin would make great choices, but they are part of the Mortal Kombat franchise, assuming it continues. Ross Butler (Shazam) is another fantastic option as well along with Joe Seo (Cobra Kai). However,  with Potter’s talent and dedication combined with Ryu’s captivating backstory, a Street Fighter movie with him in the role could be a hit among fans of the franchise and newcomers alike.
