It seems the wait for Loki season 2 might be longer than fans had expected, as the latest release update is not looking good for the Marvel Disney Plus show.
2023 is shaping up to be an interesting one for Marvel fans, and not in the best way. Heading into the year, it was looking like 2023 would be one of Marvel’s busiest years yet with a number of new movies and Marvel Cinematic Universe shows planned for release across the year.
However, the year is shaping up to be not as nearly as exciting as fans anticipated it would be.
As of April, not a single MCU show has been released on Disney Plus with the only Marvel title having arrived so far being February’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
We’ve seen several titles delayed including Secret Invasion which has been bumped from Spring to June and The Marvels which was shifted from summer to fall. And it now appears Loki is joining the growing list of projects being delayed by Marvel.
Loki season 2 release date updates
Originally, Loki season 2 was scheduled to release in Summer 2023 and the official Disney Plus page for the show promoted the show as coming during that window. However, it’s recently been updated to note that season 2 is “Coming Soon,” which suggested Marvel might have changed plans. And this now seems to be the case.
In wake of Loki season 2’s status being updated to “Coming Soon” on Disney Plus, pop culture insider KC Walsh is reporting Loki will debut in September 2023 — which is much later than many fans had anticipated.
This report from Walsh also coincides with recent remarks from Owen Wilson about the show’s second season coming in the end of the summer or September.
"“I guess [Quantumania] has kind of a little shot of Tom Hiddleston and I and Jonathan Majors from Loki season two. And I think that’s coming out end of the summer or September,” Wilson told ET at the premiere of the new comedy Paint."
Between Disney Plus updating the show’s arrival time from “Summer 2023” to “Coming Soon,” the insider report from Walsh, and Wilson’s remarks to ET, it’s looking highly likely Loki season 2 has been pushed back to September where it will likely debut after the debut season of Ahsoka — which arrives in August.
