Harley Quinn isn’t returning to HBO Max this month, but the continuation of the series (Legion of Bats comic book) just concluded.

Season 3 of Harley Quinn ended back in August of 2022. It ended with Poison Ivy being offered a job as the new leader of the Legion of Doom and Harley Quinn working with the Bat Family. Normally that means fans have to wait a while to know what happens next. This was both true and not.

In February 2023, Harley Quinn: A Very Problematic Valentine’s Day Special was released. It showed Harley and Ivy having their first Valentine’s Day as a couple. Of course, shenanigans ensued. Among those things was a Kaiju-sized Bane and Harley’s love potion causing people all over Gotham to have sex. The special ends with the HarlIvy remaining together. While the animated series won’t return to HBO in April, the season continues in the comic book series Harley Quinn: The Animated Series: Legion of Bats! by Tee Franklin.

In this series, Harley and Ivy were both withholding things from each other. Ivy didn’t know that Harley was working with the Bat Family. Meanwhile, Ivy didn’t mention that she’d been spending time with her ex-girlfriend Bella Garten. In typical HarlIvy fashion, they discovered what the other was hiding at the most inopportune time. Their lies caused Ivy’s plans to fail and almost cost Harley her life.

The six-part comic book is worth reading, especially if you’re a fan of the HBO Max series. It has all of the goofiness, heart, romance, and raunchiness of the show. Tee Franklin does an amazing job continuing the series. Hopefully, with the comic book series concluding, news on when season 4 of Harley Quinn will come soon.
