With the Ahsoka Disney Plus series confirmed to be released sometime in August 2023, how does this affect the release of Loki season 2?

When the first trailer for the live-action Ahsoka series starring Rosario Dawson dropped at Star Wars Celebration in London, it was confirmed the series will release at some point in August. It’s exciting news for Star Wars fans, but what exactly could it mean for the upcoming season season of Loki which was slated to arrive in Summer 2023?

With Secret Invasion coming out June 21, Loki season 2 could potentially get delayed as the Secret Invasion season finale is expected to arrive at the end of July. Should Ahsoka arrive in early August shortly after Secret Invasion wraps, it seems possible Loki season 2 would be shifted back to September allowing time for viewers to breathe and for Disney Plus to capitalize on the hype around both bigger series.

The only alternative option would be to bring Loki forward in May before the debut of Secret Invasion which is incredibly unlikely. Even though we have seen just a teaser of Loki about a month ago we have yet to see an official trailer and all signs are hinting that the show will be pushed back.

What is Ahsoka about?

Ahsoka is centered on the former eponymous Force-sensitive outcast that was previously a Jedi Knight that was taken under the wing of Anakin Skywalker as a Padawan during the Clone Wars. Ahsoka Tano (Dawson) made her live-action debut during season 2 of The Mandalorian then subsequently The Book of Boba Fett.

Taking place during the era sometime after Return of the Jedi, Ahsoka delves into a looming new threat that could threaten the very balance of the universe not long after the fall of the Galactic Empire more than five years prior. Dave Filoni has written the entire series consisting of eight episodes and is directing alongside Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, and Rick Famuyiwa just to name a few.

Ahsoka cast

Rosario Dawson, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Hayden Christensen, Emani Esfandi, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Lars Mikkelsen, Genevieve O’Reilly, Ray Stevenson, Ivanna Sakhno, Diana Lee Inosanto, and David Tennant are part of the cast of Ahsoka.

Ahsoka trailer

The new teaser shows Ahsoka at the center of some ruins as she states in voiceover that she senses something dark is coming, then after the Lucasfilm logo transitions to a red hue, we cut to Sabine Wren (Bordizzo) partially wearing some of her Scout Tropper armor and her helmet resting in front of her.

There are then appearances from Hera Syndulla and her droid Chopper, Shin Hati before clashing between Ahsoka and Baylan Skoll in The World Between Worlds who uttered in his speech about war in shots.

Ahsoka is seen in an industrial location in cross-cutting shots dueling against an Inquisitor before you have the last shot of the lightsaber-crafting droid Huyang saying “Perhaps it is time to begin again” in reference to Ahsoka saying there are barely any remaining Jedi left.
