Marvel: Fantastic Four’s Invisible Woman shows why she’s the strongest there is
By Mark Lynch
The Fantastic Four’s Invisible Woman blocks out the sun showing another level of her power level that didn’t seem possible.
The Fantastic Four are among the most successful groups in all of comic books because they have an incredibly balanced team. Reed Richards’ intelligence is close to the greatest in any genre. Johnny Storm has the power to be as hot as the sun. Ben Grimm can go toe-to-toe with the Hulk (and has even beaten him). And then there’s Sue Storm; the most powerful of them all.
The Invisible Woman has knocked out the Hulk, contained both Ben and Johnny on her own, and she can beat her husband if needed. If you read Marvel Comics, this isn’t shocking. Nevertheless, Sue Storm continues to show her powers may not have limits. This was proven again in Fantastic Four No. 6 by Ryan North.
The Fantastic Four had to destroy bacteria from another realm that could cause the planet to starve. Of course, the team finds a way to stop this from happening. Shockingly, it was Johnny and not Reed who came up with the idea. All they had to do was block out the sun for three days straight in a certain area in Kansas. This is where Sue Storm came into play. She’d have to make part of the sun invisible the entire day. Of course, she was up for the challenge. While that seems inconceivable, the impossible is just another day for Marvel’s First Family. She completed the mission with little more than a nosebleed.
There aren’t many people who can do what Sue Storm did. That list consists of people like Jean Grey, Wanda Maximoff, Doctor Strange. That’s the power level that the Invisible Woman has. The best part is we haven’t seen the best of her. This writer fully believes that Ryan North has more in store for her going forward in his series. Especially with the next issue being Fantastic Four No. 700.
