Bane has become one of the Dark Knight’s greatest foes over the years but which versions of the Batman villain stand out among the rest? Who is the best Bane?
Bane. The very name sends a chill down the spines of DC fans. It may also have the same effect on Batman, because Bane is the foe who infamously broke the Dark Knight’s back in the comic books, etching his place in history as perhaps his toughest enemy.
The character is arguably Batman’s most famous adversary created within the last 40 years. He wasn’t one of the first waves of cartoonish villains created in the 1940s or 1950s, instead debuting in 1993 with a vengeance. An intelligent mastermind powered by venom, he has brains and brawn, and has perhaps caused the Caped Crusader more physical and emotional harm than any other nemesis (including breaking his back and killing Alfred Pennyworth).
Over the years, Bane has appeared in various adaptations of Batman on the big and small screens. Now, as we continue to celebrate Batman Day, we look back on the very best and the very worst of him.
Note: While there were multiple other actors to voice Bane on TV and in video games, this list will take a look at the ten most famous (and best) to do so on the big-screen or small-screen.
