6. War for the Planet of the Apes

This is for all intents and purposes a remake of Battle for the Planet of the Apes but with a huge budget, CGI, and another amazing performance by Andy Serkis as Caesar.

The movie is the third installment in the Planet of the Apes reboot series, which explores the conflict between humans and intelligent apes. In this film, Caesar, the leader of the apes, seeks revenge against a human military leader who is responsible for the deaths of several apes.

As humans begin to start to become mute and lack any intelligence from the drug that was introduced in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, humanity – Woody Harrelson in particular – is not having any of it. Actively trying to wipe out all of the Apes, even going so far as to kill some of Caesar’s family and using some Gorillas as “Donkeys” to do the grunt work for them after they have turned their back on their own kind.

It’s a solid entry in the new franchise that has a very emotional ending that really needs to be seen. Choosing where to place some of these films is a chore because all nitpicks aside, we really do love them all. Well, most of them.
