There’s no denying The Fast and Furious franchise is one of the biggest and best action franchises in modern history. These movies have left their tire prints all over the box office and pop culture history with high-octane action, incredible action sequences and car scenes, and incredible storytelling. There are currently 11 movies in the franchise, and we ranked all 10 movies from worst to best.

In honor of the streaming release of Fast X on Peacock, we ranked the Fast and Furious movies from worst to best. Fast X premiered in theaters on May 19, 2023, and another movie is in the works, too. Fast X: Part 2 premieres in 2025. Originally, this list was updated right after I watched Fast X in theaters in May, but to prep for the movie’s release on Peacock, I rewatched all 11 Fast and Furious movies. I have to say, the first ranking was a little off, so I’ve amended the list and moved up Fast X a few spots in the ranking. There are some other changes, too, so let’s just get into it.

Let’s get the list started with what we’re calling the worst Fast and Furious movie so far. Let me preface by saying, I don’t believe that there is a bad Fast and Furious movie. All of them are good and entertaining in their own way, in my opinion. But, if I had to choose the least good Fast and Furious movie, it’s going to be 2 Fast 2 Furious. 

11. 2 Fast 2 Furious

• Cast: Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, Eva Mendes, Cole Hauser, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, and James Remar

2 Fast 2 Furious is the second movie of the Fast and Furious movies and the sequel to 2001’s The Fast and the Furious. It’s the first movie of the franchise that does not star Vin Diesel. Instead, the film focuses on Brian O’Conner, played by Paul Walker.

After the events of The Fast and the Furious, Brian is on the run and using his skills as an illegal street racer to stay alive and make ends meet. Brian let Dom and his crew walk at the end of the first movie. In 2 Fast 2 Furious, Brian gets a deal from the FBI to go undercover again to stop Carter Verone (Cole Hauser), the head of a drug cartel, who is in Miami. Brian teams up with his friend Roman Pierce (Tyrese Gibson) and Monica Fuentes (Eva Mendes), another undercover agent working for Verone.

2 Fast 2 Furious is another iconic movie that was not respected in its time. The movie has terribly low Rotten Tomatoes scores, but it’s good, even though it’s the franchise’s worst movie. It’s a must-watch for me anytime it hits a new streaming platform. 2 Fast 2 Furious gave just enough of a glimpse of the future and set up what was possible with this franchise, and it’s still paying off today.

The problem is how much the series has evolved since this movie. Obviously, no Vin Diesel in the movie is a major knock against it. I love how they worked Tyrese Gibson into the fold more after this movie. He’s incredible as Roman Pierce.
