AI chooses 5 actors who could play Aegon the Conqueror (and its picks are surprising)

If it feels like lately all the new TV show and movie announcements have been reboots, sequels, or spinoffs, that’s because they basically have been! From the recently-announced Harry Potter and Twilight series to the new Final Destination and Exorcist movies, it’s becoming more and more difficult to find new releases that aren’t part of franchises.

That said, one franchise people are still very excited to watch grow is the Game of Thrones universe. Because it’s based on the books written by George R.R. Martin, there’s just so much to explore and adapt. So far, the only spinoff that’s out is House of the Dragon, which is currently filming its second season. Warner Bros. also recently announced a Dunk and Egg adaptation, and there are rumors and reports of a Jon Snow sequel and an Aegon the Conqueror prequel.

The Aegon show is not yet confirmed by HBO, but the report from Variety earlier this month certainly had fans buzzing. And now, everyone’s speculating who could play the coveted role. We decided to have some fun and ask the AI tool ChatGPT who should play Aegon I, and it gave us some interesting options. A few are surprising, while most I just don’t agree with. Let’s get into the first actor on ChatGPT’s list, Jason Momoa.

Right off the bat, I’m saying no to Jason Momoa as Aegon the Conqueror because he was already in Game of Thrones. Come on, ChatGPT! No one’s going to believe him as a Targaryen when he already played a Dothraki. At least, I wouldn’t. Here’s AI’s explanation for choosing Momoa:

"“He’s no stranger to playing a conqueror, having portrayed Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones. Plus, his imposing physique and commanding presence would be perfect for the role of Aegon.”"

There’s absolutely no doubt that Momoa can play a powerful character capable of conquering and leading. But considering he’s already part of the Game of Thrones universe and is a super well-known actor, I don’t think he’d be a good fit for Aegon I. Plus, he’s 43 years old. At the start of his conquest, Aegon is 25 years old. Though he grows older throughout the story, I don’t see Momoa playing a character in his 20s.
