Travis Fimmel

Okay, this is the pick on the list I can get down with the most, though I don’t totally agree with it. ChatGPT picked Travis Fimmel next on its list of actors who could play Aegon the Conqueror, and this is a casting I’ve actually seen fans making across social media. Many users on TikTok are convinced Fimmel is the perfect choice for the part, and I can see why. Here’s what AI thinks:

"“Known for his role as Ragnar Lothbrok in Vikings, Fimmel would bring a rugged, rough-and-tumble quality to Aegon. He’s also got the acting chops to convey the character’s ruthless ambition.”"

Fimmel has been in a few popular shows such as Vikings and Raised by Wolves, though I wouldn’t consider him a household name. The Game of Thrones franchise has had a lot of success casting unknown actors to play major roles, so I think the less known the better for Aegon I. Fimmel has experience playing a warrior, as ChatGPT reminds us, and would totally fit in a role like this one. However, the only drawback I see here is Fimmel’s age. He’s 43 years old.

Just like the other names on this list, I can’t see Fimmel playing a character in his 20s. Casting someone in their 30s would probably be the best bet since we’d likely see Aegon grow into his 40s and potentially older in a TV adaptation. But he’s got to start the series in his mid-20s.

I wouldn’t be mad if Fimmel was cast as Aegon I, but I do think there are probably better options out there.
