4. Despicable Me 3

  • Director: Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda
  • Cast: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Trey Parker, Pierre Coffin, Miranda Cosgrove, Steve Coogan, Jenny Slate, Dana Gaier, Nev Scharrel, and Julie Andrews

Despicable Me is the fourth movie of the Despicable Me franchise, and it’s, obviously, the third movie of the main series. It continues the story of Gru, the Minions, and Gru’s daughters, Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier), and Agnes (Nev Scharrel).

In Despicable Me 3, Gru, who is now working as an agent for the Anti-Villain League, must team up with his twin brother, the villainous Dru, to stop Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), a former star of a children’s TV show, from stealing a diamond and using it to destroy Hollywood.

Overall, Despicable Me 3 is still really good, but it’s just less good than the first two Despicable Me movies and Minions: The Rise of Gru. I also enjoyed allowing Carell to take a bigger role in the movie as Gru and Dru. Unfortunately, the Gru and Dru dynamic detracts from some of the good moments that we saw between Gru, Lucy, Margo, Edith, and Agnes as we saw in the first two movies.

For No. 3, we’re taking it all the way back to the beginning with the first Despicable Me movie.
