Despicable Me is the first movie of the franchise. It’s so wild that this movie is 13 years old, and it still feels so fresh and just good, overall.

Despicable Me introduces audiences to Gru, a supervillain who going to pull off the ultimate heist: stealing the moon. To do so, he adopts three young girls: Margo, Edith, and Agnes. Gru plans to use them as part of the plan, but he, who seemed incapable of love when we meet him, starts to love his new role in life. Gru, Margo, Edith, and Agnes work together to stop Gru’s rival, Vector (Jason Segal) from besting him.

It was hard to rank Despicable Me as No. 3 on the list because I really feel like I’m splitting hairs when comparing all three of the top Despicable Me movies. It really just comes down to preference, and the other two movies on the list are just a little bit better than the first of the Despicable Me movies, but it’s still an incredible movie.

For No. 2 on the list, we’re going with Minions: The Rise of Gru, the most recent of the Despicable Me movies.
