Gentleminions, this one’s for you! Minions: The Rise of Gru is No. 2 on the list of the Despicable Me movies. It’s the most recent addition to the franchise, and it premiered in theaters in 2022. It’s also the only one of the movies available to stream on Netflix right now.

Minions: The Rise of Gru is the fifth movie of the franchise, and it’s the second Minions movie. It also is a prequel to Despicable Me, like the first Minions movie. The Rise of Gru tells the story of Gru as he meets the minions and enlists their help to become a supervillain.

After being denied entry into the supervillain group, the Vicious 6, Gru and the minions team up to steal a precious gemstone before the Vicious 6 can get their hands on it in order to take his revenge and also impress them. Unfortunately for Gru, things don’t go according to plan.

Overall, Minions: The Rise of Gru is a great sequel, and we learn a lot more information about Gru’s history and what motivates him to be the best supervillain he can be.

Up next is the top Despicable Me movie we’ve seen so far, and that’s Despicable Me 2.
