Thor is the first moving featuring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, the God of Thunder. It’s the fourth movie of the MCU, overall, after Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man 2. It was released in 2011.
Looking back, it’s kind of wild that we got to meet Thor before Captain America, but it works out really well that way. In the movie, Thor is banished from Asgard by his father, Odin, for some drama involving Loki. Thor, then, goes to Earth and meets Dr. Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and falls in love. He also tries to retrieve is magic hammer, Mjolnir, which has been confiscated by SHIELD. Thor must return to Asgard to stop Loki.
I’ve mentioned this before when I’ve written about Thor in the past, but it’s awesome to see how important Thor, its story, and its characters were in the bigger, over-arching MCU storylines. None of it is possible without Thor, Loki, Asgard, Thanos, and the story that builds up to the events of Avengers: Endgame. It all starts with Thor!
Up next is the first team-up featuring Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, and the rest of the Avengers.
