There are two post-credits scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy 3, but are the scenes actually worth sticking around for or can you bounce once the film ends?
Marvel fans, the wait is finally over! Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has hit theaters and it’s just as epic as we had hoped. The film puts Rocket front and center, driving the narrative with his own personal story. As we join the gang on Knowhere, it seems like they might finally get a chance to settle into a somewhat normal life. But as we know with the Guardians, things are never that simple. Rocket’s past comes back to haunt him, forcing Peter Quill and the team to embark on a dangerous mission to save their friend’s life.
As the action unfolds, we’re treated to all the witty banter, thrilling fight scenes, and classic rock tunes that we’ve come to expect from the Guardians franchise. And of course, there are two post-credits scenes that have left fans buzzing. But the question is, are they worth the wait? We’ll get to that in a moment, but first, let’s talk about the rest of the film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 delivers on all fronts, with a solid story, strong performances, and stunning visuals. The chemistry between the characters is as electric as ever, and the addition of new characters such as Cosmo and Adam Warlock only adds to the fun. But it’s Rocket’s arc that really shines here, providing a deeper look into his past and present struggles which will absolutely tear at your heartstrings and make you reach for the tissues. And as the fate of the Guardians hangs in the balance, we’re left on the edge of our seats until the very end.
Now, let’s get back to those post-credits scenes.
How many post-credit scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy 3?
As noted above, there are a total of two post-credit scenes within Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which is standard for most Marvel movies these days. The first of the two scenes plays after the first portion of the credits, while the second comes at the very end of the movie after the full credits have run.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 post-credits scenes explained
If you’re sitting in a theater watching Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and trying to figure out whether the post-credits scenes from the film are worth sticking around for, we’d argue they definitely are can’t-miss moments — at least for die-hard fans of the franchise. This is because the films don’t technically help to set up any particular follow-up project, but rather seem to hint that there could be more to come from the characters after all.
In the first of the two post-credit scenes, audiences get a tease of the new Guardians team in a scene that seems designed to assure fans that while the Guardians team has changed, they’re still out there embarking on adventures through the galaxy and coming to the aid of those in need.
During the mid-credits scene, we see the new Guardian team of Rocket, Cosmo, Adam Warlock, Kraglin, Groot, and an unnamed Star Kid (one rescued from The High Evolutionary’s prison) chilling on an undisclosed planet talking about their favorite songs. The scene ends with Rocket selecting the song “Come and Get Your Love” — which fans will remember to be from the first Guardians movie — before the group spring into action to fight an army of alien creatures.
Meanwhile, in the end-credit scene, we return to the home of Peter’s grandfather where he and Peter are sitting at the kitchen table as Peter complains about an unnamed neighbor who wants Peter to mow his lawn.
The scene doesn’t have much context, though it does include a pair of Easter eggs including Peter’s grandpa telling him not to get him started which is a callback to a running gag from the film. There is also a nod to Kevin Bacon’s abduction in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on the newspaper Peter’s grandpa is reading, which is a fun wink to the special. The scene also ends with the promise that “The Legendary Star-Lord will return.”
Overall, you won’t really miss anything important if you head out before the two post-credits scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 play. However, they are fun moments for fans of the franchise in teasing the idea of more from the characters in the future behind the James Gunn trilogy. Although Star-Lord is the only character who Marvel confirms will return again, the scene featuring the new Guardians team suggests we could see more of those characters within the MCU as the door was left wide open for the characters to return should Marvel call upon them.
