The latest release update is not looking good for Loki fans as it’s looking like Loki season 2 might be coming even later than expected.

If there is one thing Lok fans are starting to get used to it’s disappointment. While the show is in a unique spot as the only Marvel Cinematic Universe live-action Disney Plus original series to get a second season (at least for the moment), the road to getting that second season has been a long and bumpy one.

While the show was originally slated to release in Summer 2023 with the assumption among audiences being season 2 would kick off in June, similarly to how season 1 did, Disney Plus quietly changed its release window from Summer 2023 to “Coming Soon.”

Shortly after this change took place, reports surfaced that the show had been pushed from summer to fall with a reported release date window of September 2023. As disappointing as this was, the reports were supported by comments made by star Owen Wilson to ET in which he hinted the show could be coming in September.

Now, it seems like the show is about to be pushed back again with a new report suggesting Disney Plus has delayed Loki season 2’s release date once more.

Loki season 2 release date updates

After pushing the release of Loki season 2 out of its summer slate, it now appears Loki‘s return could be coming much later in the year than fans had anticipated. While a September release is still possible for the series, a new report from The Cosmic Circus indicates Loki season 2 has been shifted back to October 2023.

While Marvel has not released any comment on the report, it’s being reported that the delay is “due to production on the season hitting a snag with the aforementioned climate in the Entertainment Industry as of late.”

No specifics were provided, but it was hinted that the current controversy surrounding star Jonathan Majors could have been a factor. Though, it’s important to note that Marvel Studios has yet to release any formal statement regarding the potential delay or in response to Majors’ legal matters.

Should the report prove to be true, it would seem likely Marvel would look to release the series at the beginning of the month as doing so would allow the season to end before The Marvels opens in theaters.
