"“All these souls, lost and alone. I can save them. I can cure them. There’s no reason to stop me, Peter.”- Dr. Curt Connors"

Curt Connors’ performance isn’t nearly as bad as people say it was. The biggest complaint was people saying he looked more like a dinosaur than a lizard. To that, this writer would like to remind people that dinosaurs are lizards. Did he look anything like the comic book version or what was expected? He didn’t, but that shouldn’t matter. What fans should be looking at is Rhys Ifans the performer and that he did a good job as Curt Connor and the Lizard.

Curt was supposed to be a genius and slightly insecure as a human. His other side was the opposite. He was an animal. The Lizard wasn’t thinking about the consequences of turning everyone into reptiles. He just wanted to succeed. This leads to some pretty good speeches in Amazing Spider-Man. Scenes that wouldn’t have been good with Ifans weren’t playing the part.

The Lizard returned in No Way Home and was a better antagonist in a smaller role. It was like Lizard knew everything that was going to happen before Peter did. He bided his time and struck at the right opportunity. This showed that maybe the Lizard didn’t need to be the main villain in a project to be important. A few unforgettable moments are just as good as one big one. Depending on the person, it could mean more so.
