3. Avengers: Infinity War
Avenger: Infinity War could be No. 1 on this list, and Peter Quill/Star-Lord plays an integral part in the story to stop Thanos. The film was released in 2018 and largely sets up the events of Avengers: Endgame, the biggest and most important part of the MCU so far.
In the film, Peter joins forces with members of the Avengers from Earth, including Tony Stark/Iron Man and Peter Parker/Spider-Man. They work together to try to stop Thanos after Iron Man and Peter Parker are taken into space by Thanos’s forces while trying to rescue Doctor Strange, who holds the Time Stone. They hatch a plan to stop Thanos, and they appear to have won, when Peter flies off the handle after learning about Gamora’s death so Thanos can win the Soul Stone.
Peter makes a mistake when they’ve trapped Thanos. Because of his feelings for Gamora, Peter moves too soon, alerting Thanos to the attack, and Thanos is able to fight his way out and escape, which then leads to the Blip at the end of the film. Peter, as mentioned before, is one of the people who disappear for five years as a result of the Blip.
