2. The King’s Man

  • Release Year: 2021
  • Director: Matthew Vaughn
  • Cast: Ralph Fiennes, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, Matthew Goode, Tom Hollander, Harris Dickinson, Daniel Brühl, Djimon Hounsou, and Charles Dance

The King’s Man premiered in theaters in 2021 after being delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s the third movie of the franchise, but it’s a prequel to the first two movies. It explores the origin of Kingsman, the secret service.

In the movie, Ralph Fiennes stars as Orlando Oxford, Duke of Oxford, who becomes the first agent of the Kingsman and is the original Arthur. After the death of friend, Franz Ferdinand, the Archduke of Austria, Orland tries to stop The Flock, a terrorist network trying to start the Great War (World War I).

Overall, The King’s Man received worse reviews from critics, but audiences liked the movie more than Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Honestly, I have to agree with the audience! I don’t think Kingsman: The Golden Circle is bad by any means, but it was just a little bit sillier, overall, and not quite as good from a story perspective. There were moments in Kingsman: The Golden Circle that crushed me. Well, one in particular, but it’s just not quite as good as The King’s Man, which I saw as a necessary break from the franchise as we move into Kingsman: The Blue Blood.

Up next is the best Kingsman movie we’ve seen so far.
