Superman and Lois season 4 renewal odds aren’t looking good
By Cody Schultz
Superman and Lois season 4 should be a guarantee given the show’s success; however, its odds of happening aren’t looking great.
Since its premiere in 2021, Superman and Lois has quickly become a critical and commercial success. The show’s focus on Superman and Lois’s family life, in addition to their superhero exploits, has brought a fresh take on the beloved characters, making it a hit with both fans and critics.
The show’s success lies in its ability to balance action-packed superhero scenes with heartfelt family drama, creating a unique blend that resonates with viewers. Critics have praised the show’s excellent writing, pacing, and performances, particularly from Tyler Hoechlin as Superman and Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane.
Despite the show’s critical acclaim and strong viewership, its future remains up in the air due to the recent change in ownership of The CW. In a normal year, it would be a lock for renewal; however, as CW fans have come to know, no show is safe from cancelation on the network in the current landscape.
Is Superman and Lois canceled?
At this time, Superman and Lois has not been canceled; however, its odds of scoring a fourth season are very much up on the air. The show should be considered a slam dunk for renewal given its popularity among audiences and critical success; however, Nexstar has been clearing house since acquiring The CW leading to the cancellations of many hit series including a multitude of DC TV properties from Warner Bros.
Superman and Lois season 4 renewal updates
As of May 11, Superman and Lois season 4 has not been ordered at The CW with the show’s future up in the air and there is no telling whether the show will be renewed or canceled. However, the odds don’t seem to be in the show’s favor as The CW is said to be looking to cancel many of its existing scripted series.
The CW has already canceled Walker: Independence and Deadline reports the network is planning on canceling the bulk of its current scripted shows by the end of the week. This means we should know whether Superman and Lois will be coming back for another season very soon. While the network has renewed All American and Walker, it’s reported that the future of Superman and Lois could be contingent upon whether The CW chooses to proceed with any additional scripted originals.
The good news is that James Gunn has spoken out in support of the show and expressed an interest in seeing it continue for another season or two. However, it’s unclear whether the vote of confidence in the show will have any impact on The CW’s decision.
