It’s been over a decade since we’ve last seen a new Final Destination movie, but with news that New Line is bringing back the horror franchise with a sixth installment, we’re looking back at the series so far and discussing which are the best and which are… not so great. These movies have always been guilty pleasures for me, but I can’t deny there are several scenes I still think about today. Did you grow up feeling scared of tanning beds and rollercoasters or were you normal? Because I watched Final Destination, I was the former!

The first Final Destination movie came out in 2000 and was directed by James Wong. The vibe, paired with the cast full of popular ’90s and 2000s actors like Ali Larter and Devon Sawa, really makes this movie such a time capsule. Though it received generally negative reviews from critics, it was a financial success and spawned several movies and even comic books to come.

The Final Destination movies have varied in quality, but each has given us multiple memorable kill scenes and has featured pretty popular names, including actors like Tony Todd, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Keegan Connor Tracy, Ryan Merriman, Nick Zano, David Koechner, and Courtney B. Vance.

Final Destination 6 will be directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, though the cast and release date has not been announced yet. While we wait for more news, let’s break down the first five movies and rank them from worst to best.
