2. Final Destination 3

Final Destination 3 is by no means amazing in its plot points, dialogue, or cinematography, but man, I have a soft spot for this movie. And that’s because it’s just so entertaining! It’s so fun to watch and rewatch. The third entry in the series came out in 2006 and is directed by James Wong. The cast, which includes Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Merriman, is strong, and the premonition scene is probably my favorite of the franchise.

The movie opens up with the character Wendy enjoying a night at an amusement park along with her friends and classmates as they celebrate their high school graduation. Mary has a premonition of a roller coaster ride malfunctioning and killing those riding it, and sadly, she’s not able to stop everyone from getting on. Her boyfriend Jason and best friend Carrie choose to ride it anyway and die in the accident. After that, death down hunts Mary and those who avoided the ride.

The opening scene is definitely the strongest of the movie, as it’s very suspenseful and not totally predictable. The third movie also gives us several memorable death sequences, including the tanning bed scene, the weight machine scene, and the nail gun scene.

Final Destination 3, however, is again very formulaic and at times predictable. It’s one of my favorites of the series, but it’s in no way perfect.
