1. Aaron Kincaid
The DC Animated Universe’s original interpretation of Killer Croc was strikingly different to his comic book counterpart, and yet, like many of Batman: The Animated Series‘ unique portrayals of characters, it has gone on to become one of his most iconic looks. With grey, gravelly skin and a more humanoid appearance, his origin story was mostly the same except for the fact that his name was “Killer Croc” Morgan.
Croc was voiced by the late, great Aaron Kincaid, who did a wonderful job bringing him to life with his intimidating tone. It’s hard to fully describe the effectiveness of what he did with the role because, yes, there were more human elements to this version of the character (he didn’t particularly growl or roar) but there was a haunting echo to his voice that was anything but human. It was instantly recognizable and whenever you heard it bellow through the halls of Arkham or the sewers of Gotham, you knew that Batman was in for a fight.
Kincaid also explored a more humorous side to Croc’s personality, seen specifically in the legendary episode “Almost Got ‘Im” where his “It was a big rock” moment quickly became a fan-favorite.
Killer Croc remains one of Batman: The Animated Series‘ most beloved characters and the biggest reason for that is Kincaid’s unforgettable portrayal.
