Blue Beetle is my sleeper pick for the best superhero movie of the summer. If somehow The Flash and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse are flops, Blue Beetle lands in theaters on Aug. 18, and it looks like it’s going to be really good.

Blue Beetle stars Xolo Maridueña, star of the Netflix original series Cobra Kai, as Jaime Reyes, also known as Blue Beetle. In the film, we’ll see Blue Beetle’s origin story and how he obtained the powers that give him a beetle-like exoskeleton.

The trailer for Blue Beetle was just released in the spring of 2023, and it looks like one of the best DC movies we’ve seen in a while.

I’m a big fan of Xolo Maridueña, and I can’t wait to see him in this role. As with The Flash, it will be interesting to see what this means for the future of Blue Beetle with James Gunn and Peter Safran as the new heads of the DC movies. Hopefully, we’ll get to see a Blue Beetle sequel, too.
