The Flash season 9 will mark the end of the Arrowverse but when does the legendary DC show come to a close?

Barry Allen has been protecting Central City from harm since 2014. Ever since he was struck by a lightning storm caused by the particle accelerator explosion and developed super speed as a result, he has been watching over his city as a guardian angel, saving people in a flash. And now, that journey will come to an end.

The Flash is one of the most recognisable heroes to ever grace our TV screens and the show’s own success is largely responsible for that. A spin-off of Arrow, it became an instant hit for The CW and went on to become one of the biggest TV series of the past decade.

But all good things must come to an end, and the same goes for the Scarlet Speedster’s small screen adventures. The Flash is currently airing its ninth and final season and there aren’t many episodes of the Arrowverse show left. With that in mind, here’s when you can expect the final episode to air.

The Flash series finale release date

The series finale of The Flash airs on The CW on Wednesday, May 24 2023, at 8:00 p.m. ET. Titled “A New World, Part Four”, the episode (season 9 episode 13) will see Team Flash take on one of their biggest challenges ever.

The final season has been split into three installments, with the first seeing the arrival of the Red Death, the second serving as an Interlude, and the third recently kicking off the show’s last ever storyline. Barry Allen found his way back to that fateful night in which the Reverse-Flash killed his mother and came face-to-face with that version of Eobard Thawne. Now, Team Flash looks to take on the Negative Speed Force in the ultimate battle of good versus evil.

The end of The Flash will mark a major end of an era for television, as it will also be the final chapter in The CW’s legendary Arrowverse, closing out the shared universe of superheroes that has dominated TV for 11 years.
