The CW has officially pulled the plug on the last Arrowverse show it had in development, bringing a disappointing end to the iconic franchise.

It’s been a rough three years for Arrowverse fans. Within the span of just a few short years, the franchise went from a powerhouse franchise that was part of the core of The CW’s lineup to a franchise that’s now essentially been wiped from existence.

First, Arrow ended its run after eight seasons. Then Black Lightning and Supergirl were final seasoned at the network. Next Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman were each canceled without getting a proper ending. Soon after, The Flash was renewed for a final season.

Then there is Superman & Lois which started as an Arrowverse show but quickly put some distance between the franchise and now finds itself in danger as well. So while it’s technically part of the franchise given both Superman and Lois were introduced in the Arroverse, the show opted to leave the franchise behind in its rearview mirror making it hard to count as an official member of the franchise.

Now, the last glimmer of hope for the Arrowverse to continue has been pronounced dead at the network bringing a formal end to the franchise’s future at the network.

Arrowverse spinoff Justice U not moving forward at The CW

While the fate of Superman & Lois remains up in the air, The CW has announced it will not be proceeding with the long-in-the-works Arrowverse spinoff Justice U.

During the network’s Upfronts presentation, the network’s new President of Entertainment, Brad Schwartz, revealed to TVLine that it had turned away the Arrow spinoff and opted not to proceed with developing the show at the network.

Justice U would have seen David Ramsey return as John Diggle in a series that would have seen Diggle recruiting a group of young meta-humans and training them into becoming the next generation of heroes. The series was said to have still been in development as of earlier this year, but it appears that The CW ultimately decided it just wasn’t meant to be.

With The CW passing on the spinoff, that means there will be no future Arrowverse series coming to the network with the essentially ending with The Flash‘s series finale this May.
