It looks like Marvel’s Ironheart might not be coming out as soon as fans had hoped.

Earlier this year, it was suspected that both the upcoming Marvel Studios Disney Plus series Echo and Ironheart had been delayed with no confirmed release date. Both series were filmed during 2022, with Echo starting on April 21 and ending on August 26, while Ironheart began filming in late May and wrapped at the beginning of November. The titular characters already debuted on-screen in the respective Marvel Cinematic Universe titles Hawkeye and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Now, just last week, it was announced that season 2 of the hit Disney Plus series Loki would premiere on October 6, 2023, and all six episodes of Echo would be available to stream on November 29, 2023, leaving Ironheart with no confirmed release date.

25-year-old actress Dominque Thorne (Judas and the Black Messiah) plays the engineering student turned hero Riri Williams aka Ironheart. She brought a lot of charisma to the role and showcased her sense of humor, being the comic relief in last year’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Fans expected to see more of her in her own Disney Plus series later this year, but as many media outlets have reported, this seems further from reality at this point.

Ironheart release updates

Marvel’s release schedule is quite full this year, but it seems that Ironheart won’t be a part of it. Variety published a 2023-2024 release schedule for upcoming MCU films and series, adding that Ironheart will likely have a 2024 release date. Moreover, Disney Plus’s official site states that it is “coming soon” – a change from its initial fall 2023 release window. Reportedly Marvel Studios is going for two shows and three movies strategy for releases, similar to when they were in their earlier phases.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Dominque Thorne spoke on many topics surrounding her work playing Ironheart for the Black Panther sequel as well as her series, letting audiences know that it will showcase more character development for Riri Williams as we get away from the chaotic adventure that was in Wakanda Forever.

Ironheart joins another Disney Plus series, Agatha: Coven Of Chaos, with no official release date slated yet however this is subject to change as this is developing news. A better picture may be seen later this year as to when we can expect to see more of Riri Williams’ story and her iconic armor suit.
