10 best comic book movie sequels ever made, ranked
By Mark Lynch
10. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Previous comic book project: Doctor Strange /WandaVision
"“What mouth?” – Wanda Maximoff"
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had to be more than a sequel to Doctor Strange. It also needed to follow up on Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. With Stephen Strange gone, Wong had to become Sorcerer Supreme, meaning Stephen would have to deal with the demotion. Then there are the events of WandaVision to take into consideration. Wanda Maximoff became the Scarlet Witch and dove deep into dark magic to try and get her kids back. That became the driving force of this movie. It’s the main reason this project was so successful.
Doctor Strange and Wong were both amazing and honestly no one was shocked by that. America Chavez (played by Xochitl Gomez) was a good addition as well and showed potential for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But they weren’t enough to keep this movie going on their own. Elizabeth Olsen, however, was enough and everything that you could have wanted from a villain.
Her performance was Wanda was something else. The Scarlet Witch was cruel, powerful, and scary. To some, she wasn’t a real villain. Wanda was killing people to get her kids back. Love is a powerful motivator and makes people do things they normally wouldn’t.
Without Wanda, this movie wouldn’t be in anyone’s top ten. Sequels or otherwise. Thankfully, she was that good. Most of the memorable moments from Multiverse f Madness include Wanda and that had to be by design. Hopefully, she will return in a future Marvel Studios project. The universe needs her.
