9. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secret of Ooze

Previous comic book project: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

It may seem like a travesty that this movie is ahead of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, there is a reason behind it. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secret of Ooze was a better follow-up to its predecessor because it hit on everything that happened in the original movie.

First, the film explained where the Ninja Turtles went after their battle. Their home was known to the Foot Clan so they couldn’t go back. Plus, how they discovered their new base was silly and fit the movie. Next is the Shredder. His comeback was fantastic. He returned from the dumpster that almost killed him and only cared about revenge. He also added something crucial to the movie; Shredder remained serious and deadly – something the movie needed at times.

The most important part of this one is the entertainment factor. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Secret of Ooze was fun from start to finish. At no point did the comedy appear forced. Even when it did, it seemed like the creative team knew it. For example, the “Prefight donut” scene. Michelangelo knew it was silly and he came up with the idea.

All of this shows that just because a project is goofy doesn’t mean it’s not as good as a serious one. The Secret of the Ooze is a timeless film and a great sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
