4. John Wick

  • Release Year: 2014
  • Director: Chad Stahelski
  • Cast: Keanu Reeves, Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Dean Winters, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, and Willem Dafoe

Directed by Chad Stahelski, John Wick premiered in theaters in 2014. It’s easily one of the best action movies released in that year, and it’s pretty impressive to see how well this movie holds up after nearly a decade.

Again, John Wick is not bad at all! This is an incredible movie and where this franchise started. It’s just that after John Wick, the stakes got higher and the action sequences and story got bigger and better in the later movies. That’s why John Wick ranks No. 4 on the list of the John Wick movie ranking.

John Wick introduces fans to the titular character played by Keanu Reeves. After an interaction goes wrong at a gas station, John Wick is targeted by the son of the leader of a criminal syndicate who attacks Wick in the middle of the night, kills his new puppy, and steals his car. John Wick, then, comes out of retirement and seeks revenge on those who caused him harm. Not only does he get revenge, but he brings the pain in ways other assassin revenge movies do not.

This is where the story all begins, and it’s a great first installment for the franchise. It only gets better from here.
