3. Friday the 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter

Part 4 picks up right where the previous film left off. Jason is in the morgue as a new group of teens head to Crystal Lake and let’s face it, none of them have a snowball chance in Hades of surviving his machete’s wrath. Some of the best kills come from Part 4, like Crispin Glover’s for instance. Face it, it’s always best to look for the corkscrew yourself.

Billed as the final chapter, everything was ramped up. From the kills, the ferocity and let’s be honest the sex. Everyone paired up, and everyone died. Each kill is more grizzly than the last. Especially the one that is reserved for the guest of honor at the murder banquet, Jason Voorhees.

The real stand out from the film however is young Corey Feldman as Tommy Jarvis – Jason’s longest-running foe. What’s really special about Tommy – in this installment at least – is that he is based on FX maestro Tom Savini who came back for Part 4 to essentially kill his creation and boy does he. It’s one of the most gruesome kills in the entire franchise. Hands down.

This is one of the films that fans of the franchise consider to be the best. While it has all the trappings of a Friday the 13th film, it’s not the best in the franchise by a long shot. Not with two more remaining films. This leaves you wondering, what will be at the top spot?
