1985 was really a fantastic year for the cinema. The Goonies, The Breakfast Club, and Fright Night. The list goes on and on. None of them however have the impact of the number one film on our list.
After some initial issues with lead actor Eric Stoltz being replaced by their initial choice Michael J. Fox, magic hit the screen on July 3, 1985, and made $388 million on a $19 million dollar budget, and time traveled into our hearts forever.
After being sent back to 1955 due to an incident with Lybians and plutonium, down-on-his-luck teen Marty McFly has to fix the problem that he caused by running into his father and mother. If he doesn’t make things right, it could wipe his entire family from existence. completely!
Michael J. Fox was shooting Family Ties at the same time as Back to the Future, but in doing so, shot his star into the stratosphere. This is one of those films that you HAVE to see. In 2007 it was selected for the National Film Registry by the United States Library of Congress.
It takes a lot for a film to be part of pop culture for all time and this is one of them that will never be forgotten. Ricky & Morty was created as a rather filthy homage to Back to the Future. It’s fun, endearing, and heartfelt, and taught us all that the future is what you make it.
