4. Halloween II (1981)

Every successful film needs a follow-up right? Well, Halloween II was a great follow-up to what would become an iconic horror film. It expands on the story and characters of the original movie while delivering plenty of scares and tension.

The film picks up immediately after the events of the first film, continuing the story of Michael Myers, the masked killer who terrorized the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois. The movie begins with the iconic scene of Michael Myers walking through the streets of Haddonfield, still wearing his mask and carrying his knife. The scene sets the tone for the rest of the film and made it clear the movie was about to deliver another chilling and thrilling viewing experience.

One of the things that makes Halloween II a great follow-up to the original film is the way it expands on the story and characters introduced in the first movie. We get to see more of Laurie Strode, the sole survivor of Michael Myers’ killing spree, as she is taken to the hospital after being attacked by the masked killer. We also get to learn more about Dr. Loomis, the psychiatrist who has been tracking Michael Myers for years, and his determination to stop the killer at any cost.

Director Rick Rosenthal expertly built suspense in all the right places and kept the audience guessing as to what will happen next.
