3. Spider-Man: No Way Home

  • Release Year: 2021
  • Director: Jon Watts
  • Cast: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jacob Batalon, Jon Favreau, Jamie Foxx, Willem Dafoe, Alfred Molina, Benedict Wong, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire

Prior to Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, it was basically impossible to imagine the plot of Spider-Man: No Way Home. How could they pull off all three Spider-Mans (also known as the Spider-Men) in one movie? How could they afford to do that? How could they make it work storywise?

Well, a colossal mess up, that’s how they made it happen, and it resulted in one of the biggest and most epic sequences in the MCU to date. In the film, everyone finds out that Peter Parker is Spider-Man, which has big implications for his life and the lives of his family and friends. So, he wants to make everyone forget that he’s Spider-Man, and an unhinged wizard, Dr. Strange, tries to help him, but there’s a problem. Instead of stopping everyone from remembering who Spider-Man is, it brings people who know who Spider-Man is from the multiverse into this one. Yikes!

What ensues is a big mess with Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland, and Andrew Garfield, as their respective Spider-Man, trying to stop former villains, including Green Goblin, Lizard, Doc Ock, Electro, and more from taking over.

There are some issues with the No Way Home story and what it means for the future of the MCU and the future of Spider-Man, but the great aspects of this movie definitely outweigh any minor timeline or connection issues.
