Avatar 2: The Way of Water is finally set to make its presence felt on Disney Plus. When can fans of the James Cameron movie expect its arrival?

It’s almost time. After six months, Avatar: The Way of Water is finally coming to Disney Plus.

Fans have been out here waiting for the film’s arrival on the streaming platform for months. Since the pandemic, Disney films tend to make their presence felt on the streamer about 70 days after their theatrical release, but that wasn’t the case with Avatar 2. Heck, the film was even released to digital and video-on-demand services before it came to Disney Plus.

The official reason for the lengthy wait for Avatar 2 was never confirmed, but it’s likely down to its monumental box office success. Like its predecessor, the film had a huge budget and it needed to make a lot of money to break even. It did that, securing the future of the franchise, but it also did a lot more, as it went on to become the third-highest-grossing film of all time, fighting with Cameron’s own Titanic (which was recently re-released for its 25th anniversary) for third place.

But after a long wait, fans who didn’t see Avatar: The Way of Water in movie theaters can now watch it on Disney Plus from June 6 onwards. But that comes with a twist of its own, as it will also stream on Max (formerly HBO Max) the very same day.
