3. John Diggle

One of the first official members of Team Arrow, John Diggle is a character with a very interesting trajectory. He started off as a bodyguard for Oliver Queen after his return from the dead. He drove him around and their relationship started off with respect, but also some lies because of the things that Oliver was doing in the dark of night.

Over time, John would have a child, get remarried, prove that he could be a hero in his own right, and always act as Oliver’s right-hand man. We also saw him take on the mantle of Green Arrow at one point, even as he was ultimately not the man we looked at as being the Arrow.

Throughout the series, John was perhaps the one man with the most insight into what was happening in the city, on the team, and with Oliver. He was as much at the heart of the series as Oliver himself and he often had some of the stronger storylines. And he dealt with just as much drama and pain as any other character to be a part of the series. From betrayal to loss, this was a man well-versed in the pain that can lead one to make bad decisions.

However, I will say that there were times when John Diggle did not get the appreciation he deserved as a long-standing member of the team. And yet, through it all, he proved that he could make an impact no matter where he was in the Arrowverse. (Beyond Arrow, he often worked well with Team Flash, and seemed to fit in with that group as well.)
