Fans of the DC universe are no doubt familiar with Robin. The character first appeared on the page back in 1940 as Dick Grayson, Batman’s sidekick. Over the years, we’ve seen several other characters take on the role of Robin, both in the comics and onscreen. No matter the medium, however, fans have found him to be a character who’s easy to connect and relate to, making him a favorite and one to root for.

Known for his detective abilities, acrobatic skills, and loyalty to justice, it’s not surprising that Robin has become a staple for DC comics, TV shows, and movies. From Chris O’Donnell’s leading role in the Joel Schumacher movie Batman & Robin and Brenton Thwaites’ performance in Titans, to Joseph Gordon Levitt’s Easter Egg appearance in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, there’s been no shortage of portrayals. And of course, there’s also the awesome voice acting we’ve seen in the animated titles.

Robin’s featured in various superhero teams, like the Teen Titans and the Justice League. Though we’ve seen live-action portrayals plenty of times already, there are still so many comic book storylines that future shows and movies could pull from.

We know that Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 is on the way — though the release date has been delayed due to the writers’ strike — but at this time, we don’t know whether or not Robin will appear. It’s not out of the question, however, as the director said “maybe” to the idea while on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “There’d have to be emotional stakes to get drawn into that character’s story,” he explained.

While we wait for more information on The Batman 2, let’s have a little fun by fan-casting five actors who’d be right for the part of Robin.
