Another weekend, another eye-popping, heart-racing episode of Demon Slayer season 3!
Roll up, roll up! Another weekend, another eye-popping, heart-racing episode of Demon Slayer, season 3. Oh, how episode 9 danced, dazzled, and delivered the goods! This one had all the right ingredients, from edge-of-your-seat action to continuing Muichiro’s character development.
Let’s go into some more detail, shall we? BEWARE OF MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW!
“Mist Hashira Muichiro Tokito” saw us burrow deeper into the enigma that is Muichiro. It’s like we were given a VIP pass into his memory palace – the traumas, the motivations, the bottled emotions. A better chance to understand why he fights the way he does. Plus, the grand reveal of Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji was the perfect way to close the episode.
Just to jog your memory, the preceding episode saw our young hero, Muichiro, pitted against the deviously powerful upper-moon Gyokko. How can we forget when he literally laughed in the face of danger, giving us Simba vibes and driving the already infuriated Gyokko up the wall? It was like watching a wickedly fun fencing match, except with more flying body parts and less polite clapping.
Hotaru Haganezuka wasn’t going to let a few slashes dampen his spirits. Nope, he was determined to give Tanjiro the most badass blade that ever existed, braving through Gyokko’s attacks. Oh, and speaking of battles, did anyone else get goosebumps watching Muichiro perfect his Mist Breathing Technique while he recalled his past? Talk about multi-tasking!
Fast forward to episode 9, and we’re in the thick of the battle. After a snarky comment from Muichiro, Gyokko goes from zero to berserk in a heartbeat, only to be left fuming when none of his attacks land. It was like watching a rage-fueled ping pong match, with Muichiro playing both sides of the table. Long story short, the match ended with Muichiro’s fast-paced attacks, and Gyokko’s neck making a swift exit from the scene. It was an excellent scene to watch!
From the rubble of the fight, we got an emotional tour of Muichiro’s past, a journey that only served to further solidify his resolve. After his victory, he discovers the miraculous survival of Kotetsu, thanks to a hilt gifted by our main man, Tanjiro. This tender moment invoked memories of the late Rengoku Kyojuro, not to mention the familiar faces of his father, mother, and brother, Yuichiro. Aww, feels, anyone?
But let’s not forget the unfinished business with Hangtegu’s new form, Zohakuten. Our dynamic trio, Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Genya were facing quite a pickle with Zohakuten’s wooden dragon heads. But, before the wooden dragon could say “Mmm, delicious Tanjiro,” Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Hashira, leaped into the scene. How’s that for a last-minute save?
Episode 9 was the perfect Demon Slayer cocktail – a smooth blend of action, storytelling, and emotions with a twist of surprise. The dynamic fight sequence between Muichiro and Gyokko was a feast for the eyes. The voice actors deserve a standing ovation too. They brought their characters to life, enhancing the emotional resonance of the scenes.
What’s more, the episode did a fantastic job of illuminating Muichiro’s past, making him an even more beloved character to fans. It was a profound journey that revealed the strength and determination behind his title as the Mist Hashira. The seamless scene transitions and the jaw-dropping CGI for Zohakuten’s wooden dragon were just the icing on the cake.
The ultimate surprise came with the entrance of Mitsuri Kanroji. The fans had been waiting for more screen time for this character since the beginning of Demon Slayer season 3, and her entrance surely ignited the spark for upcoming episodes. We all felt that thrilling sensation of a cliffhanger as Mitsuri marched towards Zohakuten, ready to take him head-on.
Catch the next Demon Slayer episode, “Love Hasira Mitsuri Kanroji” on Crunchyroll this Sunday! I am eagerly anticipating what promises to be yet another thrilling, emotional rollercoaster of a ride.
