The Walking Dead: Dead City is one of three new TWD spinoffs coming to our screens. When will the Maggie and Negan series premiere on AMC?

The end of The Walking Dead has come and gone, with the show bowing out when its series finale aired back in November 2022. But just because the show has ended, that doesn’t mean the era is over.

Since the announcement that the show would conclude with its eleventh season, four new spinoffs have been announced. The first, an anthology series focusing on standalone tales set within in the TWD Universe called Tales of the Walking Dead, premiered last summer. However, we also know that there are more coming in the months and year ahead.

One of those is The Walking Dead: Dead City, a spinoff series set in New York City that will feature Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) and Negan Smith (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as the main characters. How they get there remains to be seen, but one thing that is certain about it is its release date. And it’s closer than ever.

The Walking Dead: Dead City release date

The Walking Dead: Dead City premieres on both AMC and AMC+ in June 2023. It will make its TV debut, airing its first episode on AMC on Sunday, June 18 2023, at 9:00 p.m. ET, 6:00 p.m. PT, and 8:00 p.m. CT. However, if you can’t wait to check it out, it will stream three days earlier on AMC+, arriving on the platform for subscribers on Thursday, June 15.

The show was initially planned for April, with an announcement confirming this at New York Comic-Con, but AMC recently revealed that the release window had been moved to the summer month instead.

Even with the change, it will still be the first of three new TWD cast-led spin-offs to air, coming ahead of Daryl Dixon (which will premiere in the second half of the year) and the untitled Rick and Michonne series (which has been delayed to 2024).

Its premiere comes after the first half of Fear The Walking Dead season 8. The original TWD Universe spinoff returned with the first six episodes of what has now been revealed to be its final season, debuting on May 14.

The Walking Dead series finale may have brought the show to an end, but this is only the beginning for the TWD Universe.
