Marvel will reintroduce a former reality in Ultimate Invasion

The Marvel Comics event Ultimate Invasion will reboot the Ultimate Universe and reintroduce its characters.

In 2015, Marvel Comics did away with the Ultimate Universe (read Secret Wars for more on that). It was a fifteen-year experiment that birthed some fantastic characters. Among them was Miles Morales. The Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610) also influenced the uniforms seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The concept of a Marvel Comics universe starting in the year 2000 was a brilliant idea. Each character was different since their lives began in a different era. The design for the world was so good that it could have replaced the current Marvel Comics universe (Earth-616). Unfortunately, the universe started strong and began to tail off quickly. This made its demise a wise choice. However, nothing in comics stays dead forever.

The upcoming Ultimate Invasion isn’t just a comic book event. It will jumpstart the Ultimate Universe. As Marvel.com reports,

"“The breathtaking epic will introduce readers to this new line that will be home to an array of brand-new hard-hitting series. A fresh start for a new generation, prepare to see your favorite characters redefined for today’s world.”"

The Maker (the Ultimate Universe’s Reed Richards that’s currently on Earth-616) attempts to restore his former universe and, of course, starts a war between characters in the 616-Universe and his own. The Avengers, X-Men, and the Ultimates will all make appearances according to comic book covers. The trailer above also shows the return of The Illuminati. Other heroes and villains will likely show up as well. It’s a great way to cross-promote. This is also how other characters may switch universes. Among them could be the out-of-place Miles Morales.

Whatever happens during Ultimate Invasion, Marvel Comics will have more heroes and villains to play with. Earth-1610’s Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, and the X-Men may return. Who knows, Wolverine, Cyclops, and Magento all died during Ultimatum. The conclusion of Ultimate Invasion could bring them back. Although, making Logan less of a creep would be a great idea.
