Clear your calendars, everyone. Deadpool 3 will now be bringing the laughs and action to theaters months earlier than expected – don’t forget to get the chimichangas to go!
Just when you thought you had the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) timetable down to a science, along comes none other than our favorite merc with a mouth to shake things up. Fans everywhere are thrilled to learn that Deadpool 3, featuring Ryan Reynolds’ anticipated debut in the MCU, has had a surprising jolt in its release date.
With production in full swing and a star-studded cast currently making movie magic in London, Deadpool 3 promises to be an X-Men extravaganza. Even the ongoing writer’s strike can’t dampen spirits as news spreads of Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, the ultimate sidekick to Reynolds’ irreverent Deadpool.
The details of the plot remain shrouded in mystery. But seeing Deadpool and Wolverine bickering and battling on-screen, now under the MCU banner, has us all on the edge of our seats with our ears perked waiting for any sort of news.
Now, about that release date shakeup.
Deadpool 3 release date updates
Hold onto your chimichangas, because Deadpool 3 will land in cinemas on May 3, 2024, jumping ahead from its initial spot of November 8, 2024. Yes, you read it right! Deadpool 3 has had its release date moved – again – but this time to an even earlier date.
Filming only kicked off in May 2023, so this gives the team just under a year to wrap things up, compared to the usual 18-month turnaround time.
This slot was initially reserved for Anthony Mackie’s Captain America debut, now renamed Captain America: Brave New World. The Cap’s standalone feature will now swoop into theaters on July 26, 2024, taking the original spot meant for Thunderbolts.
Deadpool 3 is the only MCU title to have its release date moved up, while half a dozen others, including Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, have been pushed back.
What’s behind this move? Well, given Marvel Studios’ decision to push back six upcoming projects, shifting Deadpool 3 forward could only spell good news for the eagerly-awaited threequel.
Let’s face it; there’s a lot riding on this film. It’s MCU’s first venture into full-blown R-rated storytelling, and with the first two Deadpool films smashing it at the box office, expectations are sky-high. Throw in Ryan Reynolds’ evident passion for his wise-cracking character and the limitless narrative possibilities offered by the Multiverse, and it’s clear that Deadpool 3 is going to be a game-changer.
Disney’s bold move, despite a looming writer’s strike and a tighter production schedule, sends a clear message: Deadpool 3 is big news, and they’re not holding back.
