3. Gorr the God Butcher (Thor: Love and Thunder)

Gorr… is a gift.

Gorr the God Butcher sliced his way into our collective nightmares in Thor: Love and Thunder. With a god-slaying addiction and so much charisma, Gorr gives us the heebie-jeebies like no other MCU villain… and also touches our hearts (well, mine at least).

Don’t let his eerie and rather simplistic exterior fool you; he’s got layers. His twisted mission isn’t just for kicks – it’s fueled by a gut-wrenching backstory, the belief that all Gods are evil and must die,  and an undying commitment to his sweet daughter’s memory. It’s a reminder that even the scariest of monsters can have a heart. Or that anyone with a heart can become a villain if tried too hard.

Christian Bale is nothing short of phenomenal. His performance blew me away from the moment we meet him walking in the desert with his daughter in the beginning. If I may be completely honest, he made Love and Thunder‘s Gods-awful first hour and fifteen minutes (yes, I’ve counted those minutes) bearable. He stole every scene he slithered into, as well as the incredible last 43 minutes of the movie. I’m not kidding, when I watch this movie I skip all the way to the last 43 minutes and enjoy the movie from there.

Also… as a parent… my heart just broke for him over and over again.
