10. Loki  (Thor movies, Loki series)

Tom Hiddleston’s unforgettable performance snatched our hearts right from his first appearance in Thor, where he oozed an irresistible blend of charm, cunning, and, dare we say, a hint of villainy.

He wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill baddie – no, Loki was a master class in pathos and complexity. You see, Loki made us care, genuinely care, even as he twirled his metaphorical mustache and hatched wicked plots. His journey wasn’t about villainous laughter or world domination. It was a tragedy, a compelling dance of motivations and choices that drew us in, hook, line, and scepter.

And let’s not forget that this (handsome) green-cloaked troublemaker didn’t just match up to his co-stars – he stole the show! His charm offensive was so successful that he had us all entranced, cheering him on as he pirouetted from mischievous antagonist to somewhat-redeemed anti-hero.

So, what makes Loki stand head and shoulders above the rest? The answer is simple: dynamism. He’s not just evil for the sake of being evil. Loki is a multi-faceted character with depth and layers.

9. Hela (Thor: Ragnarok)

It’s not every day that an Oscar-winning actress like the magnificent Cate Blanchett dons the villainous mantle and wreaks havoc. But lo and behold, she does exactly that, with an unbridled fervor as Hela, the scorned Asgardian royal in Thor: Ragnarok.

There’s no complex backstory to decipher or a jaw-dropping plot twist awaiting at the end. Instead, Hela’s agenda is straightforward – she’s a spurned aspirant to Asgard’s throne and she’s ready to set the stage ablaze. Ordinarily, a villain without intricate plans could spell doom for a Marvel movie, but Thor: Ragnarok isn’t your typical Marvel film.

Guided by Taika Waititi’s playful vision, the film takes a refreshing approach to the superhero genre, with an emphasis on fun above all else. Despite a minor twist to Hela’s origin, her main job is to revel in her wicked ways, which she does with aplomb. Even though her villainy might not be remembered for strategic masterstrokes, she shines in the role she’s given, bringing vibrancy and energy to the film in spades. So buckle up, folks! Hela’s ride might not be the most cunning, but it sure is a rollicking good time!
