2. Gwen Stacy/Miles Morales

"“I never found the right band to join, so I started my own, with a few old friends. You want in?” – Gwen Stacy"

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse starting with Gwen Stacy’s story showed how crucial she was to the plot. Not just because she joined the Spider Society. Gwen’s story was deep. The pressure of her father hunting her left her hurting and people hating her.

In another universe, there was Miles Morales. A Spider-Man who had all of the fame and love that he could want. Yet they had a friendship that transcended differences. It also connected them. They saw something within each other that they recognized. As the saying goes, opposites attract.

"“Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. Sorry, I’m doing my own thing.” – Miles Morales"

It was impossible to rank one of them higher than the other. Miles and Gwen both brought an energy, personality, and storyline that was equally important to the movie. Miles went from an impulsive kid to a Spider-Man with a plan. Gwen turned into a leader of a group after not having one. Without each other, neither would have become the great heroes we’re currently seein – which is scary in itself.

Before their growth, they were already magnificent heroes. What they’re going to do in Beyond the Spider-Verse will be nothing short of spectacular.
