Batman is a major aspect of The Flash movie, but does he make it out of the DC Universe movie alive?

If you’ve been seeing the trailers and promotional artwork for The Flash, you could be forgiven for thinking that Batman is the main character in the movie. The Caped Crusader has been at the heart of the marketing campaign, and considering it’s Michael Keaton that is playing him, it’s easy to see why!

The legendary actor reprises his role from the Tim Burton movies Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992) as he helps the Scarlet Speedster and Supergirl stop the threat of the mighty Zod, who has come to Earth in the hopes of terraforming it and making it a new Krypton.

When a beloved character such as the Caped Crusader guest stars in a movie like The Flash, fans are always curious to know what kind of role they play (and if they make it out of the movie alive). So, what becomes of the Dark Knight in the DCEU movie?

Does Batman die in The Flash?

The aged Bruce Wayne steps up to help the two versions of Barry Allen rescue Supergirl and tells them that his assistance would end there. However, being the hero that he is, he eventually realizes that he still has enough gas left in the tank to take the fight to Zod and save the world one more time.

Unfortunately, Batman does die on the battlefield. At first, he is unable to eject from the crashing Batwing, so he decides to sacrifice himself by taking out Zod’s ship at the same time. When both versions of Barry go back in time and reset the timeline, the Dark Knight successfully ejects from the Batwing and he quickly finds himself in a physical showdown with one of Zod’s warriors. Being the badass Batman that he is, he manages to take the warrior down, but he then succumbs to his injuries in Barry’s arms. But not before thanking Barry for bringing him back.

Keaton’s Caped Crusader may have “died” in that timeline, but his Batman remains alive out there as Barry undid all of the damage that he did to the timeline. Zod’s war never played out like that, and that version of the Dark Knight was not pulled into that world. Yes it happened, but then it didn’t.

As for Ben Affleck’s version of Batman, he was wiped from existence by Barry’s timeline shenanigans, getting replaced by Keaton’s in the new timeline before George Clooney’s Bruce Wayne was pulled into the fray. The ever-changing faces of Bruce Wayne will likely be used as a way of introducing the new Dark Knight for The Brave and the Bold.
