It’s never fun to say goodbye to a show as epic as Demon Slayer once again. But with how much fun we had in the latest season, it’s safe to say that many are even more excited about what’s to come!

From watching Tanjiro Kamado attempt to maneuver his way between multiple demons to seeing how Muichiro Tokito became the strong, young teen that he is today to even understanding how Mitsuri Kanroji became more confident in her looks and her abilities, Demon Slayer season 3 (a.k.a. The Swordsmith Village Arc) was a story we’ll cherish forever.

However, as you might have guessed, this arc certainly isn’t where Tanjiro’s story ends in the slightest.

Here’s everything to know about the future of Demon Slayer!

Will Demon Slayer return with a fourth season?

With a show as popular as Demon Slayer, you can bet that the series will return for a fourth season! But we shouldn’t celebrate just yet, as we may have to wait a rather long time for the new season to arrive.

When will Demon Slayer season 4 release?

Although we don’t have an official release date for Demon Slayer season 4, we’re expecting to see the new season return as early as Spring 2024 or as late as Spring 2025.

The reason behind our predictions stems from the fact that fans of the anime often have to wait about two years for new installments to arrive. Here’s a look at the release dates of Demon Slayer so far.

  • Season 1 – April 2019
  • Season 2 (Entertainment District Arc)  – December 2021
  • Season 3 – April 2023

Having this in mind, it wouldn’t surprise us if the anime’s production company Ufotable chose to take their time for the sake of releasing a new season as high in quality as the previous ones. Or, perhaps Ufotable will surprise us by releasing another season in late 2023. Either way, we’re sure the upcoming season will be worth the wait!

What will Demon Slayer season 4 be about?

Should the series continue to follow the natural progression of the manga, fans can expect to see the Hashira Training Arc animated for the first time.

In this arc, Tanjiro and his friends undergo heavy training to become strong enough to battle Upper Rank demons without needing a week or two of recovery afterwards to bounce back. The young demon slayers are taught by members of the Hashira how to improve their agility, battle sense, and, most importantly, breathing techniques.

Read more on what you can expect from the Hashira Training Arc below (via Kimetsu no Yaiba Wiki):

"Tanjiro goes to see the Stone Hashira, Himejima, who intends to prepare him for the battles to come. The training to become a Hashira—a high-ranking member of the Demon Slayer Corps—is intense and demanding. Earning Himejima’s approval seems impossible, but Tanjiro won’t give up! Meanwhile, the demon lord Muzan continues to search for the location of Nezuko and Ubuyashiki."

Seeing that this arc doesn’t exactly include a fight with an Upper Rank demon like the last two seasons (as well as the film, Mugen Train), we’re led to believe that this arc may come in the form of either a film, OVA, or the first of two arcs meshed into one brand-new season.

If the latter prediction comes true, the Hashira Training Arc will be combined with the subsequent arc of Demon Slayer, the Infinity Castle Arc. But then again, knowing how long and eventful the Infinity Castle Arc is, it’s just as likely that the Hashira Training Arc may be a standalone installment.

As always, the possibilities are endless when it comes to this shounen anime, so don’t forget to stay tuned with Bam Smack Pow for all the latest updates! In the meantime, head to Crunchyroll to stream every season of Demon Slayer thus far.
