22. Jessie Anderson

Jessie Anderson was the first woman that Rick was interested in since Lori’s death. She was kind and a good mother and probably reminded Rick of Lori in some ways. Unfortunately, she was married to an abusive jerk, which was a problem for Rick. Pete Anderson was the Alexandria doctor so while it wasn’t a secret that he was abusing his wife and children they let it slide because they needed a doctor in the community.

Jessie was never a good match for Rick, and ultimately she almost got Rick and Carl killed by letting Sam stay with them as they tried the covered in guts trick to walk out of the Safe Zone when it was filled with walkers. Father Gabriel offered to take Sam with him to the church, where he was taking Judith, but when Sam begged to be allowed to stay with Jessie she gave in and let him go with them even though she had to know he couldn’t handle it. And, of course, he couldn’t, and that led to her death and Sam’s death.

Jessie makes the list because she couldn’t make the tough decisions when she needed to and because she wasn’t really capable of fighting for herself or her family. She also put Rick in the middle of her tumultuous relationship with Pete which led to Rick almost getting kicked out of the Safe Zone for attacking Pete.

All in all Rick and the group would have been a lot better off if they had never met any of the Anderson family.
