16. Enid

Fans are coming around to Enid now that she’s grown up a little through the multiple time jumps in season 9, and now that she has a skill. But for the first couple of seasons that Enid was in The Walking Dead, she didn’t seem to have much of a personality, and she was not popular with fans. Some fans even theorized that she was a spy for another group because there seemed to be no other purpose for her being in the story.

Enid was a traumatized teenager who watched her parents get eaten by a small herd of walkers after the family had been surviving together for a bit in the apocalypse world. Even though watching her mother and father die was horrifying for her, she was able to survive on her own and find food and create some shelter for herself.

When she was taken in by the people in Alexandria, she wasn’t sure how to handle the arrival of relative safety. She was uncomfortable being in Alexandria and used to sneak out whenever she could because she felt more at peace out in the woods. She put Carl at risk several times, and she even drew a gun on Glenn when he found her outside the community. She had attempted to run away when Glenn found her after he survived Nicholas’s death. She was a total brat to Glenn, but Glenn wouldn’t let her go.

In typical Glenn fashion, he convinced her to return to Alexandria and try to figure out what her purpose was. But it was several more seasons before she found anything to do. Hopefully, now Enid has found her purpose and will go from being a disliked character to a loved one.
