Casting 10 actors and actresses for superhero projects
By Mark Lynch
6. Jameela Jamil
Comic book character: Superia
This writer loved Jameela Jamil as Titania in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. It was a fun take on a character that novice comic book fans wouldn’t know. Something that could transfer over to Marvel Comics. As great as she was, this writer would like to see Jameela in a more authoritative role. Superia would be the way to go.
Superia is an A.I.M. villain. However, unlike most of their employees, she can trade punches with Captain Marvel. She’s also strong enough to make the Hulk’s son bleed with one punch. More importantly, she’s a leader. Jameela Jamil would have been perfect. She has the strong presence to play someone as tough and dominant as Superia.
5. Raúl Eduardo Esparza
Comic book character: Jigsaw
Many of you know Raúl Eduardo Esparza as ADA Rafael Barba from Law and Order: SVU. In that show, he’s proven that he can portray justifiably arrogant and make it look good. He’s also shown glimpses of having an angry and possibly vengeful side too. Having him transformed from a guy nicknamed “the Beaut” to psychotic Jigsaw would be entertaining.
The revised version of Russo (Jigsaw) was well done in the Punisher Netflix series. It added more heart and emotion to Frank’s mission. With Netflix rebooting some of the previous Netflix Marvel characters, the same should happen for Frank Castle (who will appear in Daredevil: Born Again). This time, cast Raúl Eduardo Esparza to be the handsome hitman whose face is ruined.
